Boost for York nightlife as nightclub reopening set to create 40 new jobs

A nightclub in the centre of York is set for a new lease of life through a local property partnership.

York property companies Grantside and North Star have secured the long term future of a nightclub on Clifford Street in York City Centre.

Dating from the late 1800s, the 23,282 sq ft Grade II listed building was acquired from BAE Systems Pension Fund earlier this year.

A 10-year lease has been agreed with nightclub operator Rekom UK for the former Kuda club. The operator recently announced it was recruiting for 40 new staff for the venue ahead of its planned reopening.

Grantside founder and CEO, Steve Davis, commented: “It’s great news that we have been able to ensure the future of this nightclub venue in York, and help the night time economy in the City.

“This site has been traditionally well used and this deal will bring it back to use for people to enjoy.”
