GMI Construction Group Sponsorship Helps Brayton Belles Meet Rising Demand For Girls' Football
GMI Construction Group is supporting the Brayton Belles Ladies Football Club to create three new teams following the Lionesses’ inspirational Euro 2022 triumph.
Responding to a growing demand from girls and women to play, the Selby-based club recently began development sessions to create an under 9s, under 10s, and under 11s sides.
The sponsorship from GMI Construction Group, which has an office in Yorkshire, will kit out the three new teams.
The volunteer-run club, which was founded in 2002, is FA Standard Charter accredited and offers training for all abilities as well as competing in multiple leagues across Yorkshire.
Andrew Hurcomb, GMI’s Divisional Managing Director for Yorkshire, said: “As a company we already support good causes serving the areas in which we operate.
“We are also passionate about grassroots sport and, like the rest of the country, were inspired by the Lionesses’ dazzling achievements and wanted to play a part in promoting women’s football at a community level
“Brayton Belles are a team with a proud tradition and it does a terrific job in helping players develop new skills and progress.”
Club Secretary and player, Aine Abbott, said: “Following the Lionesses’ amazing success, we have seen a surge of interest from girls and women wanting to play, so much so that we have set up three new teams.
“It’s an exciting time for the sport and the Belles want to play its part in continuing that momentum and by hopefully discovering the next Leah Williamson or Beth England.”
