Northumbria University continues to deliver a programme of free workshops for expanding micro and small to medium enterprises (SMEs).

The Know More. Grow More. Hire to Hire. programme part of the Northumbria Enterprise and Business Support 2 (NEBS2) scheme is open to businesses located in Tyne and Wear or Northumberland that have been trading for at least 12 months. The aim of the programme is to enhance the competitiveness and growth of SMEs by offering free expert advice and guidance to help shape recruitment and HR practices.

Hiring and retaining individuals with the blend of skills, knowledge, and experience to deliver continued growth is a challenge faced by all businesses.

Siddesh Iyer, Founder and CEO of SportFin, a previous participant talks about the key benefits to his organisation following completion of the programme:

“The business support programme from Northumbria University has had a big impact on various areas of our business, particularly on how we hire and manage our people. It has helped us put processes into place to make SportFin an inclusive and engaging organisation to work in.”

The Know More programme consists of online advice, workshops, and mentoring. Each business will receive up to 12 hours of online advice over 5 weeks, including workshops and mentoring from highly skilled and successful business practitioners.

Dr Kimberley Hardcastle, Assistant Professor at Northumbria Business School provides a brief overview of the scheme. This is an ideal opportunity for an SME to capitalise on the knowledge and experience of highly skilled and successful business practitioners.
