This week's National appointments: Featuring Hawkshead Relish, Independent Growth Finance & Legionella and Fire Safe Services

This week’s round up of National appointments includes Hawkshead Relish, Independent Growth Finance & Legionella and Fire Safe Services. Read on to find out more.

Jonathan Robb, Hawkshead Relish

The multi-award winning Hawkshead Relish brand has become synonymous with the Lake District over the years, tasted by many during a visit to England’s favourite national park. The couple behind the business have dedicated themselves to its success since selling their first jar of relish in 1999, and in recent years have been working to implement a succession plan to ensure the future of the company beyond themselves.

Current General Manager, Jonathan Robb has been appointed as the new Managing Director of The Hawkshead Relish Company. Jonathan will continue to work closely with both Mark and Maria alongside their daughter Izzy Whitehead, who is the Brand Manager and a fellow Director of the business.

Speaking about the transition, Maria Whitehead MBE said: ’‘Since Jonathan joined the business eight years ago, he’s really embraced it and has become one of the family. He completely understands our vision and where we want the business to go.

“Jonathan’s step up was a natural progression and part of our longer-term plan, allowing Mark and I to step away from the day to day running of the business. Since the pandemic, both Jonathan and Izzy have taken on more responsibility and been heavily involved in strategic decision-making. Working as a team of four has proved to be a great success, and we decided the time was right to formalise our plans.’’

Maria Whitehead added: ‘‘We’re really proud of the great team we have at Hawkshead Relish, and with Jonathan at the helm, we know they’ll be in capable hands! We’d like to congratulate Jonathan and we look forward to watching him grow the business working alongside the next generation.’’

** John Savage & Miles Burgess, Independent Growth Finance**

Independent Growth Finance (IGF), the UK’s leading independent asset-based lender, has expanded its presence in the North of England, with key appointments in the North East and North West teams of John Savage and Miles Burgess as ABL Directors.

Based in Leeds, John joins IGF with a focus on origination across Yorkshire and the North East. John brings with him over 25 years’ experience in the ABL industry, previously working at GE Capital for 12 years in both their Commercial and Corporate ABL teams before holding senior ABL sales roles at ABL players, most recently Close Bros.

John Savage, ABL director, commented: “I’m thrilled to join the IGF team, and to build upon our fantastic reputation for delivering deals with certainty across Yorkshire and the North East. With my strong experience delivering funding solutions for complex transactions involving the full range of ABL assets, I look forward to helping borrowers maximise both the quantum and flexibility of their ABL funding package.”

Having first joined IGF in November 2019, Miles Burgess has been appointed ABL Director for Central, South Manchester and the surrounding areas. Miles will work alongside Richard Spielbichler, strengthening our origination presence in the region.

Reflecting on the appointment, Miles Burgess, ABL Director, said: “Having in recent times been responsible for the ‘in life’ management of existing facilities, I look forward to using these skills and helping shape facilities to meet clients’ requirements at the front end.”

Danielle Bayliss, Legionella and Fire Safe Services

Danielle Bayliss, aged 33, has been promoted to operations director at Staffordshire based Legionella and Fire Safe Services.

Danielle has spent many years working on sites, managing, surveying and supervising. It was a difficult entry into the career at the age of 22 supervising a team in a predominantly male environment. She took the approach that she wouldn’t expect members of the team to do any jobs she wouldn’t do and spent a lot of hours teaching herself all the knowledge and skills she needed to become a successful supervisor.

Danielle “I’m very proud to be appointed as a new Director on the Board. What I love about working for Legionella and Fire Safe Services is that every day is different. We carry out many different Project types, from Soil and Vent Pipe Replacements, Passive Fire Protection, Fire Door Maintenance and Installation, Hot Water Cylinder Installs to Legionella Compliance Works’

Steve Broughton chief executive officer (COO) said: “We are delighted to announce this key appointment, Danielle is responsible for ensuring that the operational divisions deliver excellent service to our customers and manage the costs and margins associated with this in line with the companies budgets and forecasts.

“Danielle joined the business at the point of start-up and this promotion to Operations Director is well deserved given our growth in revenues from zero to a projected £6m for 2023 in a little over 5 years.”
