Teeside University spin out launches social media memory app
A Teeside University spin out has launched a social media memory app which allows families to share memories.
Odyssea Memory Applications is a family social media app that can let people and their loved ones relive memories as they happened the moment they recorded them. Users can create an Odyssea profile and upload any memories, new or old.
Founder Peter Holdsworth, is an alumni of the DigitalCity Accelerator Programme, a Teesside University-led initiative funded through ERDF.
The funding from the Accelerator Programme allowed Odyssea to progress with the development of the app, and the contacts provided signposted him to the right people who contributed towards the growth of his business and app.
Peter Holdsworth CEO of Odyssea Memory Applications, said: “It is great to see how far we have come with DigitalCity’s advice and support. I am excited about our journey and now, having launched the Odyssea Application, we are hoping to build the biggest memory platform in the world.
“When we first undertook our journey to build Odyssea we had little to no experience in the digital sector. As part of our early journey, DigitalCity offered world-class advice and guidance and encouraged us to lay the foundations for the app.
“By identifying key areas like brand awareness and redesigning the app’s UX/UI, we were able to offer a better product and brand as a company, thanks to DigitalCity and its experts.”
Lynsey Robinson, director of DigitalCity, added: “DigitalCity is delighted to see the launch of Odyssea’s social media app; we are looking forward to seeing the response from users and to watch the Odyssea app grow.”
