Mayor on air for public question time
A regeneration boss is set to face public scrutiny in a new monthly radio feature.
Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen will answer live questions during the first mayor’s Question Time on BBC Radio Tees this coming Thursday (May 15), from 9am until 10am.
The hour-long phone-in marks the start of a regular series, with future sessions held monthly following the mayor’s and Tees Valley Combined Authority’s cabinet approval of the format.
Two additional in-person events will be hosted annually across the region’s five boroughs, aligning Tees Valley with other UK combined authorities which hold similar events, including Greater Manchester, West Yorkshire and West Midlands.
Mayor Houchen said: “I’d urge people to pick up the phone, get in touch and ask me anything.
“We’ve had some major developments across Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool.
“This is the start – we’ve laid the foundations and want to build on them and make it count.
“I know people always want to know more about what we are doing, what’s coming next and why – so I can’t wait for next Thursday where people can quiz me and get the answers they are looking for.”
