Bowls club rolls on with £1000 housebuilder boost
A bowls club is celebrating a £1000 boost.
Seaton Delaval Ladies Bowling Club has been backed by Miller Homes’ North East Community Fund.
The Astley Community Park-based club will use the cash to buy three scoreboards and two sets of bowls.
Committee member Val Narcross said: “This grant will make a huge difference.
“We currently don’t have any spare sets of bowls to lend to new members or those giving it a try.
“But we will now be able to encourage new members and really grow the club.”
Miller Homes introduced its Community Fund in 2022 to support grassroots projects linked to education, wellbeing, the environment and sport across the region.
Further beneficiaries in its latest funding round included The Sick Children’s Trust and Children’s Heart Unit Fund, which each received £1250.
Bright Northumbria Healthcare Charity was awarded £1500.
Ryan Lincoln, regional operations director, added: “Communities are at the heart of everything we do.
“We will be launching the next round of Community Fund applications in 2026, and urge other groups to follow Seaton Delaval Ladies Bowling Club’s lead and put in an application.”
