Builder hits affordable home project milestone
A construction firm has hit a 30-home project milestone.
Hobson & Porter has topped out an affordable property venture in Bridlington, East Yorkshire.
Bosses say the development will provide 24 one-bedroom apartments and six two-bedroom apartments on the seaside town’s Springfield Avenue.
Work is set to be completed in May.
The endeavour – which will include air source heat pumps and solar panels – is led by East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s asset strategy team alongside Hull-based Hobson & Porter, with homes set to be assigned through the local authority’s housing allocations policy.
The scheme has been supported by a £2.25 million grant from Homes England, £1 million from the Hull and East Riding devolution settlement and funding from East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s housing revenue account.
Richard Hunter, Hobson & Porter managing director, said: “Topping out and completing the roof structure is always a key moment on any project, but it’s been particularly symbolic here because we’ve also received so much positive feedback from local people about it.”
Councillor Michael Lee, East Riding of Yorkshire Council cabinet member for housing and infrastructure, added: “We're proud to invest in our social housing stock, and look forward to welcoming residents into their new homes later this year.”
