Builder Bellway submits 134-property blueprint
A housebuilder has submitted plans for a 134-property development.
Bellway hopes to create a Cheshire estate.
Bosses say the venture – set for Hazel Grove, on the outskirts of Stockport – will include three and four-bed homes for private sale, one and two-bed apartments, and two and three-bed affordable properties.
They add half of the 12-acre development would be built as social properties.
Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council is expected to rule on the plans later this year.
The proposals, submitted by the Newcastle-headquartered builder’s Strategic Land division, follow plans for a further 176 homes off Hazel Grove’s Jacksons Lane.
Sebastian Burrow, strategic land director for Bellway in the North West, said: “Stockport Borough has an urgent need for new homes, and the two developments we are planning in would make a significant contribution to reversing years of housing under-delivery.
“The high proportion of affordable homes proposed for both sites would also make a vital difference in a district where an estimated 11 per cent of households need an affordable property.”
The blueprints come amid Bellway notching higher sales – though the firm has warned the Middle East conflict could knock its progress.
