Swinburne Maddison announces promotions

North East law firm Swinburne Maddison has announced a series of promotions and new senior leadership appointments across the business.

Diane Hall and James Curran have both been promoted to managing associate, while Claire Wilson, Kaye Cunningham and Sarah Laird have stepped up to associate roles within the dispute resolution team.

The firm has also appointed Laura Murphy as head of private client after joining the business in 2025 as a managing associate.

Alongside the promotions, Swinburne Maddison has introduced a new senior managing associate role, with appointments including Abigail Zuk, Catherine Lowther, Charlotte Excell, Craig Foot, Laura Murphy, Lewis Brown and Sharney Randhawa.

The changes reflect continued growth across the firm and its focus on strengthening leadership and career progression opportunities.

Jonathan Moreland, managing partner, said: “As our firm continues to grow, it is vital that our career structure evolves alongside it.

“These promotions recognise not only individual excellence, but also the leadership, commitment and professionalism that underpin our success as a firm.

“Laura’s appointment as head of private client is particularly well deserved, and the introduction of our new senior managing associate role is an important step in ensuring we continue to reward and retain senior talent who play a critical role in leading teams and shaping the future of the firm.”
