Restaurant Faru cooks up chef collaboration

A Durham restaurant is preparing to host a one-night-only dining experience with one of the region’s most acclaimed young chefs.

Michelin-recommended Faru will welcome Michelin-starred chef Jake Jones, of The Forge at Middleton Lodge Estate, on Monday, June 29 for an exclusive tasting menu.

The event will be hosted by Faru’s husband-and-wife team Jake and Laura Siddle, with Jake Siddle and Jake Jones creating a bespoke menu for the evening.

The collaboration will bring together two of the North’s most exciting culinary talents, showcasing their individual cooking styles, commitment to seasonal produce and focus on high-quality dining.

Located within the 200-acre Middleton Lodge Estate in Yorkshire, The Forge has built a reputation for ingredient-led menus that draw on produce grown in the estate’s walled garden and surrounding land. 

Its emphasis on sustainability and seasonality closely mirrors Faru’s own approach to creating flavour-led dining experiences.

Jake Siddle said: “We're incredibly excited to welcome Jake to Durham. 

“He’s one of the most talented chefs in the country and someone whose approach to cooking and ingredients we really admire.

“Collaborations like this are a fantastic opportunity to bring something different to our guests and showcase the quality of dining experiences available here in Durham. 

“We're looking forward to welcoming diners for what promises to be a very special evening.”

Laura added: “We've always wanted Faru to offer experiences that people remember long after they've left the restaurant. 

“Having a chef of Jake’s calibre cooking in Durham is a real coup for the city and we're delighted to be able to host him.

“We have some exciting plans in the pipeline, and this collaboration is a brilliant way to continue bringing new and memorable dining experiences to our guests.”

Jake Jones has led The Forge to national acclaim, securing both a Michelin Star and Michelin Green Star. 

In 2024, he was also named Michelin Young Chef of the Year, recognising his approach to cooking and sustainability.

Guests at the Faru event will enjoy a tasting menu created exclusively for the collaboration, priced at £125 per person.

The evening will begin with arrivals from 7pm, before the menu is served from 7.30pm.
