Law firm raises glass to 15-year milestone
More than 300 guests gathered at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead for an evening of music, retro games and celebrations as law firm Square One Law marked its 15th anniversary.
Staff, clients, partners and friends came together last month to celebrate the milestone, reflect on the firm’s growth and look ahead to its next chapter.
Founded in 2011, the B Corp-certified firm has built its reputation on providing straightforward, jargon-free legal advice, with a flexible approach tailored to clients’ needs.
The anniversary celebrations turned back the clock to the year it all began, with a DJ playing hits from 2011, retro arcade games, popcorn and ice cream stalls, alongside food and drinks.
Beyond the festivities, the occasion highlighted Square One Law’s continued expansion beyond its North East roots, particularly in Yorkshire.
Its 18-strong Leeds team recently moved into larger, 3000sq ft premises at 7 Park Row to accommodate further growth.
Looking ahead, the firm is targeting further expansion in Yorkshire while continuing to advise businesses across sectors including energy, technology and health and life sciences.
Jean-Pierre van Zyl, head of the employment team at Square One Law, said: “The anniversary event was a fantastic way to bring staff, clients, partners and friends of the firm together to celebrate the last 15 years and reflect on how far we’ve come.
“Many things have changed over the years, from technology and the challenges businesses face to the size and reach of our own firm.
“But our approach hasn’t.
“We’re here to be business champions: to give a view, find solutions and have our clients’ backs.
“I think this was evident in the number of people who joined us to celebrate.”
The anniversary provided an opportunity to celebrate the relationships built over the past 15 years while raising a glass to the opportunities still to come.
Jean-Pierre added: “We’re proud of what we’ve achieved over 15 years, and there’s plenty more we want to do.
“As businesses adapt to new technologies, changing markets and fresh opportunities, they need lawyers who understand what they’re trying to achieve and help them make confident decisions.
“Our next chapter will build on the same principles that brought us here: working flexibly, speaking plainly and being firmly in our clients’ corner.”
