Goldsmith Williams plans to move out of its current Liverpool office this summer

National law firm acquires space at Liverpool’s 20 Chapel Street

Goldsmith Williams is relocating its Liverpool team to a new base in the city centre.

The national law firm signed a 10-year lease for 13,000 sq ft on the fourth floor of 20 Chapel Street, which was acquired by commercial property firm Canmoor last year for £20m.

Goldsmith Williams plans to move out of its current Liverpool office this summer.

The company has been based at Mersey Chambers for the last 15 years, but decided to sell the building and secure new premises for its 165-strong Liverpool workforce.

Goldsmith Williams’ director of operations, Adele Whittle, said: “The move is very much a natural progression for us as a growing, modern practice.

“We have adopted some of the most contemporary ways of working out of any law firm in the country – from agile working for our staff to technological systems like our nationally-used case management tool GWlive that enable 24/7 access to cases – so of course it was only logical to find a 21st-century space to reflect that.”

She added: “20 Chapel Street provides just that. It is a delight to announce this exciting news and we look forward to welcoming our loyal clients to our new, custom-built office soon.”

Canmoor director Sam Walker commented: “We are delighted with the progress that we are making at 20 Chapel Street and this letting to Goldsmith Williams is further testament to the quality of the scheme, its facilities and the building’s ability to attract major occupiers within Liverpool.

“We have signed up a number of new occupiers in recent weeks, as well as re-gearing leases with existing occupiers who are keen to stay at 20 Chapel Street.”

He continued: “Progress is also being made on the new enhanced reception area, which has recently commenced works on-site with completion due in late June and we also look forward to announcing the operator for the new café in the coming weeks.”

20 Chapel Street houses 155,000 sq ft of Grade-A office space.

The deal with Goldsmith Williams follows Orega’s recent announcement that it will be creating an 18,000 sq ft serviced office at the 15-storey building.
