Legal firm in jobs drive with town office expansion

A law firm has revealed plans to “significantly” bolster its team in an office expansion.

Ison Harrison is quadrupling the size of its Middlesbrough base.

The company says the move has been driven by demand for family law and domestic abuse legal services.

The expansion will see the Leeds-headquartered business – which only opened its Teesside doors last year – take over the top floor of the town’s Cleveland Business Centre.

Officials say the open-plan suite will hold up to 50 staff and feature private consultation suites and video link spaces to support its family and care work and match demand in other areas such as residential conveyancing, personal injury and inquests.

Partner Sarah Magson, Middlesbrough branch manager, said: “When we opened, our goal was to ensure accessible, specialist legal support was directly available on the high street.

“The demand for family law services, care proceedings and domestic abuse legal aid across Teesside has been significant.

“Outgrowing our space within 12 months shows just how vital these services are.

“The move provides private consultation spaces for vulnerable clients, giving our expanding family law team the platform to support families right across North Yorkshire and the North East.”

Jonathan Wearing, managing director at the firm – which operates offices across Yorkshire in cities and towns including Barnsley, Bradford, Castleford, Wakefield and York – added: “The Middlesbrough team achieved in one year what we anticipated would take three.

“This major office expansion gives us the capacity to keep recruiting, protect essential family legal aid, push forward with vital public interest cases and grow our full-service offering across the region.”

The investment comes just weeks after the business unveiled a “massive milestone” Manchester move it said marked a “huge step” in its growth blueprint.
